Thermal imaging

Drone thermography: see what the eye cannot

With a thermal camera on the drone we make temperature differences visible: heat loss in buildings, moisture under roofs, faulty solar panels and hotspots in electrical installations.

What does thermography show?

A thermal camera records infrared radiation and converts it into a thermal image. Temperature differences reveal problems invisible to the naked eye: a thermal bridge, moisture under the roofing, a faulty solar panel or an overheated connection.

From the air we survey a whole roof or installation in a short time, without scaffolding and without interrupting operation.

Applications

  • Heat loss and thermal bridges in buildings
  • Moisture detection under flat roofs
  • Inspection of solar panels (hotspots, faulty cells)
  • Electrical installations and high-voltage lines
  • District heating and pipe networks

Optimal conditions

For reliable results we choose the right moment: sufficient temperature difference between inside and outside, dry weather and little wind. For building thermography we often fly in the heating season, for solar panels with enough irradiance.

We usually combine a thermal capture with a visual inspection, so every anomaly is also documented photographically.

What you receive

  • Thermal images with temperature scale
  • Annotated report of the anomalies
  • Visual reference images per zone
  • Recommendations for further action

Examples and applications

  • Heat-loss scan of a commercial building
  • Moisture detection under a flat roof
  • Thermal scan of a solar panel park
  • Hotspot detection in a distribution installation
  • Check of a district heating pipe
  • Energy audit in support of renovation

Frequently asked questions

When is thermography most accurate?

With sufficient temperature difference, dry and windless weather. For buildings often in the heating season, for solar panels with good irradiance.

Can you pinpoint faulty solar panels?

Yes. Faulty cells and hotspots appear as warm zones in the image; we locate them per panel.

Is this an official energy audit?

Thermography supports energy investigation but does not replace a statutory EPC audit. It does pinpoint exactly where the problems are.

Do you combine thermal and visual?

Yes, by default. That way every warm or cold zone is also documented with a normal photo.
