Drone survey versus classic survey
When do you choose a drone and when classic land surveying? An honest comparison of accuracy, speed and cost.
A drone does not replace the surveyor — it makes him stronger. Both methods have their place, and the best choice depends on your goal.
Where the drone excels
On large areas, volumes, hard-to-reach terrain and mapping, a drone delivers an enormous amount of data in a short time: a complete surface rather than isolated points. Ideal for terrain models, orthophotos and construction monitoring.
Where classic measuring remains the standard
For legal boundary markings, parcel boundaries and surveying specific points with absolute certainty, the classic survey (GNSS and total station) remains the reference.
| Drone | Classic | |
|---|---|---|
| Large area | Very fast | Slower |
| Full coverage | Yes (surface) | Points |
| Legal boundary marking | Complementary | Standard |
| Vegetated terrain | LiDAR required | Good |
The best of both worlds
Because Drone4D is a land-surveying office, we combine both: we fly where it makes sense and measure classically where we must. That way you always get the right result.
