Drone regulations in Belgium (EASA)
Which rules apply to professional drone use in Belgium? A concise overview.
Since the European (EASA) regulations, the same basic rules apply throughout Europe, and thus in Belgium, for drones. They are divided into three categories based on risk.
The three categories
- Open: low risk, light drones, limited distance to people.
- Specific: higher risk, requires a risk analysis and operational authorisation.
- Certified: highest risk (e.g. transport of people).
What does this mean for your assignment?
Most surveys and inspections fall under Open or Specific. For flights above people, in controlled airspace or beyond visual line of sight, we request the necessary authorisations. As a professional operator we arrange this for you.
In Belgian airspace we always consult the applicable zones and restrictions before every flight.
